Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker, consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker, author, and TV personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was the second in a family of 10 kids who was born in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's childhood. Sometimes, her family relied upon free food delivery from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father, a man who sometimes drank too much, and behaved towards her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed several drinks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling, later learning that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she graduated as a D student.
