Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of United States. She is also the first female vice-president as well as the highest ranking female official of the United America. As a part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and as an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In the following years, she was the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. In 2010, Harris was appointed Attorney General of California. She was re-elected in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported healthcare reform, federal descholaring for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens and the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. She was well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
